What is Mandrill?

Mandrill is designed to help applications or websites that need to send transactional email like password resets, order confirmations, and welcome messages. Technically, though, you can send any legal, non-spam emails through Mandrill.

When your application or website needs to send email, send the information about who should get it and what the content should be, and Mandrill can apply a template, add open and click-tracking, automatically generate a plain-text version of the email if you want, append Google Analytics parameters to links in your email, and deliver it to your recipient(s). After you send, measure the performance for your emails to learn how recipients are interacting, whether your emails might be ending up in spam folders, and more. We keep stats over time, so you can see for example, whether a new version of a 'welcome' email is performing better or worse than a previous or alternate version. Here's one example of using Mandrill's tracking features to better target your users and customers.

Integrating with Mandrill

We offer an SMTP integration which means that if your website or application is already sending email via SMTP, you can change a few settings and start sending through Mandrill.

We also offer a full-featured API, including API wrappers and webhooks so developers can create deeper integrations with Mandrill. You can even configure Mandrill to receive email, parse it, and pass it back to your website or application using inbound email processing.
